Flicking your cigarette out the window or stepping on it is not safe disposal. Use an ashtray or don't smoke. 'Field Stripping' a cigarette butt involves snuffing the ash and then tearing the butt apart. Whenever you think it's too much work to dispose of your cigarette properly, think of how much work fighting a wildfire is. Then think about the danger firefighters put their lives in.
