Keep Idaho Green is an organization dedicated to the prevention of wildfires in Idaho and to educate homeowners on steps that they can take to make their homes safer in the event of a wildfire. It is run by a committee of individuals from the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and Idaho Department of Lands.
Keep Idaho Green hosts Firewise Workshops throughout the state. We also work closely with county fire prevention cooperatives and counties that would like to establish fire prevention cooperatives.
Keep Idaho Green has a strong media presence by advertising on the radio, television, newspapers, billboards and this website.
Wildfire prevention activities in the great State of Idaho were officially consolidated into an aggressive campaign beginning in .
With the encouragement of the Idaho Jaycees, led by State President Leo Bodine of Lewiston, Governor Arnold Williams formed a committee of interested businessmen to guide the State's 17 Jaycee clubs in prevention projects.
Since then, the Governor's KEEP IDAHO GREEN Committee has marshaled its enthusiasm and abilities along with private and public resources in a statewide campaign to reduce the occurrence of fires originating from human carelessness.
